Paso Nuevo Director | Gala Hispanic Theatre | March 2018 - Present

As a Paso Nuevo teaching artist I have been able to teach immigrant and first generation students acting, movement, text analysis and improvisation. I have also assisted Mauricio Pita, program director, in directing Paso Nuevo’s bi-annual production. My work at Paso Nuevo has taught me a new understanding for the importance of theatre in the lives of our youth, especially those with whom I share a similar background. Everyone deserves the opportunity to create theatre regardless of language, borders and socio-economic barriers.

Bilingual Teaching Artist | Shakespeare Theatre Company | August 2017 - Present

As a STC bilingual teaching artist I have been able to share my love for Shakespeare’s work with many Spanish speaking students helping create a bridge of culture and understanding. I have also taught classes in text and acting during their summer camp alongside other wonderful STC teaching artists. The kids at Shakespeare Theatre Company have taught me you are never too young to understand and embody the Bard’s work.

Teaching Artist | National Players Tour 68 | June 2016 - May 2017

During my residency with National Players I have been able to teach kids across our nation several theatre subjects such as Comedy Improvisation, Voice and Speech and Shakespeare. It truly has been a rewarding experience to share my experience in theatre as a female actor of latin american decent. I can think of no better time to share art and education with our future leaders.

Teaching Artist and Camp Volunteer | Sin Limites Bi-literacy Camp | June 2013, 2014

It was at the Sin Limites Bi-Literacy Latino Youth Camp that I learned about teaching young adults. I learned young adults have strong full voices that are asking to be heard and luckily I was able to do so in two languages. The camp focused on teaching and preserving Spanish language in first generation and in some cases immigrant children. As a teaching artist I assisted teachers during Spanish lessons and taught several workshops including stage combat, poetry reading, viewpoints and theatre collaboration.

Graduate Teaching Assistant | University of Arkansas | 2013- 2016

My time at the University of Arkansas Department of Drama was priceless in my personal and professional life.  At the U of A I discovered my passion for educating others while educating myself. As a teaching assistant I taught Introduction to Theatre and Acting One courses to undergraduate students. Graduate school was both extremely rewarding and difficult, and it has the lessons I learned there that made me the artist I am today.
